Tech innovation was in the air in San Francisco even more than usual last week, with the Google I/O conference in town.
From AI to wearables, and IoT to virtual reality, Google announced several updates to their ecosystem of cutting-edge technologies. Among an assortment of vehicle platforms, Android Auto made a particularly large splash. There are many exciting Google I/O announcements to dive into, but we will focus specifically on the announcements around the Firebase updates.
The number of Firebase products is increasing exponentially. Prior to last week’s announcements, Firebase offered 3 back-end services: Realtime Database, Firebase Auth, and Hosting. As of last week, 12 new features have been added that can be mixed and matched for your specific needs. The following graphic from the Firebase Web site illustrates how these features align with three primary business objectives: Develop quality apps, grow your user base, and increase earning power. At the hub of these activities is Firebase Analytics, which provides unlimited reporting of 500 event types on a single dashboard with full demographic segmentation. All your analytics requirements for mobile web, iOS, and Android apps, including a simple integration with Google analytics, are presented in an easy to read and accessible format.
Offering you solutions for so many of your core needs across multiple platforms means less complexity and fewer third parties. This produces an application that is easier to build, maintain, and analyze.
